Gerald C. Rivers is a talented Actor, Voiceover Artist and Inspirational Speaker. He is known for his voiceover work in cartoons and animated internet series as well as several internationally popular video games. He can be heard in McDonald’s radio commercials, ABC Mouse online education, seen in Geico television commercials and is the voice of The Tobacco Free Florida radio and television campaign. Known as The Voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he is in constant demand to share the words of Dr. King. His renditions for schools, corporations, churches, prisons, colleges and community organizations have taken him throughout the US and internationally. The Center for the Advancement of NonViolence recognized Gerald’s work when they bestowed upon him their Season for NonViolence Local Hero Award. And….he’s coming here to our Center on Sunday! Two Reasons to Make the Trek to Topanga Canyon

Summer is almost over, but the calendar is still full through October 1st at the beautiful, rustic Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga Canyon. It is well worth the trip through the Valley to the shaded amphitheater where the atmosphere hasn’t changed since the ’70’s. TROUBLE IN MIND, the scathingly funny and thought-provoking backstage drama about interracial politics by pioneering African American playwright Alice Childress, is currently enjoying a brilliant revival at Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum in Malibu thanks to director Ellen Geer’s vision of the groundbreaking 1955 satire in which an integrated theater company in rehearsal for a “progressive” anti-lynching drama marks the first opportunity for gifted African American actress Willetta Mayer (portrayed by multiple NAACP Award-winner Earnestine Phillips who commands the stage) to play a leading lady on Broadway.
